If you like the Command and conquer series of dreams but find them hard to get to grips with, then this is your type of game. Z uses robots where commanding conquer uses soldiers and although this is classed as a real time my a strategy game it is more tactical than a strategical game. the difference being that can see he has to tell me in which position to storm, Command and conquer was about ordering surprise and transporting munitions to the front. It is relevant to know the difference.
Command and conquer was a ground breaking war game. Not only did it boast a revolutionary new point and click interface which used the Playstation's mouse to make war games far easier to play a. It also introduced a strategic element to computer war game simulations by allowing the players to control the positioning of the factories and bassist that were vital to success. Z there is a Command and conquer cloned, based on the concept of battling robots in a far future world. Providing that you have a Playstation mouse, Z has all the ease of playability of Command and conquer (it is probably a lot easier and would suit gamers who think Command and conquer is too hard or longer and tedious close).
You don't get to build any of your own factories or pieces as they are all pre-set and all you have to do is gainthe blocks of territory that the factory is then. There are 20 levels, each of which fits you against a single CPU opponent. Each level is normally divided into 12 territories and at the beginning of a level you have control of three blocks and so does your opponent. In one of the three blocks you control will be your fort which you have to defend and in one of the three blocks your opponent will be their fort which you have to attack in order to win. The only other way possible to win a level is to kill all their your opponent's units. Each level is more like a race between you and the computer to see who can grab enough territory to gain momentum to victory. As you don't have the option to build factories of your own, you are driven forward to take control of the factories that are initially in no man's land. What ever player gains control of more factories quickest, has a better chance of defeating their opponent.
When he first start to play Z, it appears to be like a Command and Conquer poorly done, but once you've played the game for a few hours you begin to realise that it is actually more of a Playstation style game at heart than Command and Conquer and is largely about reacting quickly and controlling your units effectively. Z is a very addictive game to play and is very challenging, but if you haven't got a mouse then you may find it tricky to defeat opponents on the harder levels. Great game for any Playstation owner to have, even more appealing if you think Command and conquer games are too tricky.
