Tanktics. What sort of a game calls itself "Tanktics"? A game about tanks? Well done! Got it first time. Here's a brief guide to the story line: There are these evil black tanks and there are these nice tanks. And thousands of years ago, all the nice tanks were enslaved by the evil black tanks. And now in the present day, the nice tanks have found a way to liberate themselves and to free the generations before them, who were enslaved for their entire life. How are they going to accomplish this? By time travel of course! Yes, thousands of years after the evil black tanks enslaved the nice tanks, time travel has been invented. Okay........................

So what do you do in this game? Well, you are on the nice tanks' side and you've got to free your brother and sister tanks. Oh, and while you're at it, you might as well kill all the nasty evil black tanks and deconstruct their bases and of course, make life unpleasant for them. How can you do this? By using your heavy-duty, anti-gravity crane.

The graphics are said to be spectacular. "The speed and detail of the game is hard to believe (honestly - you'll weep when you see it)." Your crane is sort of a flying machine and so you hover. You hover above a well detailed 3D polygon landscape, which features all of these: grassy plains, rocky mountains (high), sparkling crystal lakes, burning lava, scary quicksand, peaceful forests, harsh snow, ice and of course, gambolling sheep! Sheep?!? SHEEP?!? Well apparently these sheep are important in the game. Boy, I can't wait to find out how! The game itself is described as an action/strategy/puzzle type action/arcade/fun game. It does have something that most of the other strategy games don't have - humour. Yes, they've created a fast, slick, funny game that loses none of the strategy elements. Sounds too good to be true, but nonetheless it is!

The game features lots of tanks (really? tanks?) in different pieces. The tanks are made up out of ten parts which means there can be a lot of different tanks. The most important part on a tank is a radar dish. One without a dish is scrap metal. Literally. Your most important machine though, is your 'Part-O-Matic'. This builds you your tanks, and so, you should guard it with your life, or the evil black tanks will stop at nothing to deconstruct you structure.

Tanktics features four distinctive Eras. Stone-age features huge tanks carved out of massive chunks of granite. Medieval tanks are constructed like castles. Stone and wood with all of the heraldry and frilly bits. Modern tanks are mean, no-nonsense cold-war chunks o’ metal, sinister and deadly, while the future tanks have cool options like hovering and long-range weapons that Saddam Hussein would love to bomb Britain and America with!

Look out for this game. It's one to watch for!
