This was the very first Micro Machines game for the PC and let me tell you it brought hours of fun to me. Way back in 1993, Codemasters were designing a new game based on the "Original Scale Minitures", Micro Machines. The game offered stunning VGA and EGA graphics, awesome sounds effects and music, 9 types of vehicle to race with, quality joystick and mouse support, 29 wacky tracks to zoom around and 9 krazy opponents. Nowadays, anything with less than 100 levels or tracks is deemed as rubbish.
I still play the game that I bought in '93. Although the latest version Micro Machines V3 is out, I still prefer the original, simply because the gameplay is so quick. There are no options to select like the suspension and all that engine crap, so you can be playing it within seconds. Just the sort of thing if you're bored with homework or office work.
The tracks are easily mastered after a time of around six hours solid gameplaying. Most people would think that it would let the game down, but on two player mode, this is where the fun starts. Trying to force each other off the track is better than the actual game. Setting the lap numbers to 9, sitting down with your opponet and bashing them off pencils, notepads, rulers and tables is the best form of fun. You can also enjoy it when you're pissed. Even better!!
The graphics are not particularly good, but this is in 1993 remember. Many people would be put off by the graphics, but graphics are not everything these days. Well, maybe they are, but what the hell, the game is good fun.
Finally, "look on the bright side is suicide, lost eyesight i'm on your side, angel left wing right wing broken wing your scent is still here in my place of recovery." This is Milk It by Nirvana. try listening to this or any Massive Attack song while playing the game for ages and ages. Spooky. And Fucked Up.
