REVIEW:

I suggest you read my review of Cakewalk Express before reading this because most of it will be linked. Evolution Audio Lite is very dated and the buttons are crap. Sorry they are crap. I can't say much more than this "THEY ARE BLOODY CRAP!" I know I shouldn't go on about it, but I really do feel that they should be improved. the instruments should as well. I can't believe how poor these instruments are. I know that midi files are pretty crap at sounding like the real thing but, c'mon. Don't f*ck me around. Who made these? I cannot allow them to get away with it.

Carrying on on that cheerful note, the program after a week or two, grows on you. Yes, if you use it and no other program, you can get used to it. Ugh. I hate having to say that, but, it's the truth and that's what I've got to tell you. The buttons. Ah, yes, those wonderful buttons. They make me want to puke. Honestly. Have you ever used Windows 95/98 and then tried Windows 3.11? It is destructive to your sanity!! It's like watching Alien Resurrection and then watching a 1950/60s alien B-movie. That's how bad it is. This is the same as using Cakewalk Pro Audio and then switching to Evolution Audio Lite.

Aside from those few points, the program is not too bad. The interface is quite easy to get used to, but there are a few toolbars too many lying around which you can't remove because you need them. The program is not so simple to use. I found it quite hard to actually make a midi file on it. With both Cakewalks and Cubasis, it was simple and easy, but Evolution, I've concluded, is for the more advanced user. I came to this because I've been using Cakewalk and Cubasis for years now, and I couldn't understand the technical jargon used in it.

This review is quite shorter than I expected it would be but I have covered everything that you need to know. I don't want to drivel on and on about the bad points about it and appear to be very negative, but if I do go on I can't think of any good points about it, so I'll quit while I'm ahead.

Overall, the program in itself is average, but the technical jargon used and the story of the worst buttons ever give it a lower rating. The one thing that gives it such a crap rating is the fact that the midi instruments are bloody awful. I can't believe . . . . . . .no . . . . I've got to calm down.
